It’s A-Live! | Producing Live Theater Shows

 Putting on a show is easier said than done. In this hands-on 4-week course, we’ll discuss essential processes and techniques for preparing, directing, marketing, and managing live theater productions. Applicable for improv, sketch, variety, and traditional theater (plays, musicals). By the end, you’ll have the skills needed to bring your theater dreams successfully to stage!

 Forest Kinsey is best known as a film director and writer for stage and screen, although he’s also an experienced comedian, actor, and teacher. He has a passion for weird and overlooked approaches to conventional stories, and especially enjoys creating and viewing mixed-media projects. He loves birds, good food, and playing piano. His accolades include: 2nd Best Filmmaker in Kansas City (The Pitch KC, 2025); directed An Anarchy Heist Show (Best of Venue, KC Fringe 2025); co-wrote Sketches From the Fourth Dimension (Best Original Script, KC Fringe 2024); independently produced and featured in DramaUrge (Audience Choice, KC Fringe 2021); and directed Keith’s Bread Saga (Best Local Film, KC Underground Film Festival 2020). Forest co-directs and is a head writer for The Anarchy Fun Time Show, KC’s longest running live sketch comedy show, performs with The Bird Comedy Players at The Bird Comedy Theater, KC’s best comedy club (The Pitch KC, 2021-2025), and is a member of the Independent Filmmaker’s Coalition of Kansas City, although he’s usually busy during their Wednesday meetings. www.forestkinsey.com
