Stick with It 2

In this 4-week session, students will practice tapping into a character and sustaining it through an improv scene/set. The first 3 classes will focus on skill-building and getting reps in – they will include initiating as a character, committing to a point of view, and moving your character in the environment of the scenes. For our final class, we will perform a short improv showcase for friends and family.

Prerequisites: You do not need to have attended the Spring 2026 Stick with It session to sign up. We just ask that you do have previous experience with improv performance basics and scene work.

 Jill Gillespie (she/hers) is an actor, improviser, instructor and indie team coach, sketch writer and performer, yoga teacher, and library nerd. You may have seen her performing with improv groups around Kansas City (The Bird Comedy Players, KC Improv Company, Babies, Bookends, Resting Friendly Face) or in sketches by Minnie Driver’s Many Mini Drivers or The Anarchy Fun Time Show. Once we’ve received confirmation of payment, we will add you to the class roster. 

We will use Ubindi for communication about classes and to provide the temporary access code for the Hobb’s building each week. When you create your profile, please provide an email address you will check regularly.

 DNP Studios is now a stand-alone building with street-level access located at 6632 E Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64126. There is free street parking on Truman Road in front of the building and side-street parking around the block.

Accessibility: There is a step to get into the main classroom space; some classes/projects are slated to take place in the basement which is only accessible by staircase. Please let us know if you have accessibility concerns and we’ll do our very best to accommodate.

We have gender-neutral restrooms available on the main floor and the basement space. We have basic kitchen amenities for storing/refilling food/drinks. We have a variety of beverages available with a donation.
